This little picture is of my new display (aqua door in the background)!  I’d been eyein  the back door to the store next to me since I’ve moved here. Pretty bathhouse aqua painted thing-all chipped up and just screamin to be in my store. The only problem was that it was still attached to the store next door. Well, a month or more ago, I was wondering around back to toss some garbage, and WOa-Nellie there it was leaning up against the dumpster amongst the wildest bunch of patruding splintered boards.  I just love it when people up-date, because chances are that means I may just get to do a little up-dating myself.  That is, in my own sort of backsliding way. AnywayS, here is what became of my dumpster find. Now, I did do some trading, so as not to look like a dumpster thief, so just go ahead and lower that eyebrow! ENJOY!

This next picture is a gift from HOLLY!? This girl! Holy Mac-a-roLY, what will she come up with next. It?s my new business card holder! I have strict orders to glitter the trim, and I think it will be just perfect! Â We spotted these at Hobby Lobby when we were out shoppin, but at 24.95, it just wasn’t that necessary. Weeks later at 12.49 it became more than necessary. Thanks Holly!

The promised picture of the goodies that my Swap Partner DAWN sent me: I loved everything. Beautiful vintage paper, a nest with ivory millinery flowers, DOTS candy, a beautiful pen, and the array of items you see here. But my favorite thing by far is the brown and ivory plate. I just can?t image that she sent it to me. I collect the brown and ivory botanical prints. I just mix them up and try not to have more than one piece per print, and I did not have this one. I can’t tell you how excited this made me. I put it beside my sink, and it is the resting place for my Caldera lotion and the pretty bottle that holds my dish soap. If I were home, I’d snap a picture. Thank you Dawn. PS: I also loved the recipe, I’ve made it three times now for dinner guests and have had raving reviews.

Just a little peek at what I’ve been creating for my sweet swap partner Lori over at Vintage Flair. I strung pieces from broken vintage necklaces for most of the base. The gold seed beads aren’t old, but most everything else came from a little vintage stash. I even pried stones from vintage broaches that had already lost a tooth or two. The backdrop is two ivory millinery flowers embellished a bit. One Wendy Addison glass glitter star layered on top. I can’t believe how much fun I had making this. I’m still in search of pink. I may have a hard time finding a stopping point…..

Thank you all for the comments and emails concerning my blogging absence. The Duffys are alive and well in Oklahoma. I apologize for putting you all on the back burner for the past month, but I truly have felt like my chickens have been out, and I don’t even own chickens. With our humble abode finally moved, the school year over, and the arrival of my new camera in the next couple of days, I plan to begin blogging more regularly again. I’ve got lots of really great things to show you all. I will have pictures soon of Brieanne’s SWAP.
(p.s. if someone could please tell me how to make Brieanne’s name clickable, I will be happy to send the first reply a little Miss Duffy’s surprise- just leave me your address after the instructios. Sorry about the breif bribe, but it would make things so nice to have that skill)
Whew! I would have to say that moving is my least favorite thing in the world. I mean, at first it’s no problem- packing up the dishes, books, towels, and all the necessary things. That is all easy enough. The real self defining moments come boxes later when you find things you clearly should have never bought, can’t even remember WHEN you bought them or why, and you don’t even want to think about the issues behind what made you save these things. I don’t want to get specific about my hording, collecting, recycling, “we may need this someday” habits, but I do want to say that I have realized that I might be a little ridiculously attached to things. I’m trying to over come it, but I think it is very embedded in my DNA. “Sorry Mom!”

Today, I just want to share with you my new favorite things, and let you in on a few fun things going on out in Blogland. First, my new favorite thing: I thought that I would never EVER wear gardening gloves. I’ve owned plenty- wore them a few times- and then I’d find myself back in the dirt with bare hands again. I have not been able to wear them and enjoy the experience until now. I have met the dearest gardening friend. This dear new gardening friend left two pair of garden gloves at my shop the other day while I was out. She just wanted me to try them. Now, it’s not everyday that you meet really nice people, and it’s not everyday that they just drop gifts by your store. I know that some people are inclined to tell others exactly how they feel under each and every circumstance, but I am not one of those persons. Although I hated garden gloves, and felt I probably would not end up wearing them, I gracefully bowed, rolled up my sleeves, and put on my new gloves. I always feel like people deserve the opportunity to try to convince me something other than what I believe. I actually enjoy the experience of learning things in this manner from others. I feel it either one: makes me have stronger convictions, or two: broadens my horizons to new ideas and experiences. Anyway, I am now a garden glove wearer, and I find some sort of strange dignity in wearing them- a teeny weeny bit like I have moved up on the social rector scale. Ahh…the dignity of being clean. Royalty would never garden with dirty hands. I just wanted to give you gals the opportunity to garden this summer like a queen!
You can find these on my friend- Nature Girl’s eBay store. Only $6 something- support a fellow gardener and friend- Lowes has all the money they need!
Speaking of queen, I have just been tossed into the hat to participate in my dear friend Holly’s Tierra Swap! So, come July I will be fanning myself in the Oklahoma heat, barefoot, wearing garden gloves and a Tiara. Hope you will be joining me! Kasse
